Objective

To identify and analyse relevant European and international initiatives related to the topic addressed by the project, including research projects, pilot implementations and prior procurement or deployment actions, in order to provide contextual understanding of the current landscape and inform the overall project approach. This understanding will inform you on up to what extent there are solutions that can partially support or fulfill the unmet need.

This activity aims to ensure awareness of existing experiences and avoid unnecessary duplication, without engaging in research, development or solution design.

Who is Involved

  • Champion – in charge of doing the web search and collect information from colleagues.
  • Innovation Department – support the champion or driver with cutting edge innovations and initiatives.
  • Specialist support – entity or consultant specialist on the topic.

Activities / Tasks

I.C.1.1. Mapping of relevant initiatives

  • Identify European and international initiatives relevant to the project topic, including:
    • EU-funded research or innovation projects
    • Pilot or demonstration actions
    • Prior or ongoing public procurement and deployment initiatives
  • Cover initiatives both within and outside the health domain where relevant.

I.C.1.2. Descriptive analysis

  • Perform a high-level analysis of the identified initiatives, focusing on:
    • Scope and objectives
    • Target users and settings
    • Type of solutions or approaches addressed
    • Maturity level (pilot, deployment, procurement, routine use)
  • No technical benchmarking or solution comparison is performed.

I.C.1.3. Identification of key insights

  • Identify common trends, approaches and gaps across initiatives.
  • Highlight elements relevant to the project context (e.g. scale, organisational aspects, governance models).
  • Identify complementarities and potential synergies with ongoing or completed initiatives.

I.C.1.4. Documentation collection

  • Consolidate findings into a concise analysis document.
  • Validate the completeness and relevance of the analysis with participating procurers.
  • Make results available to the consortium for reference.

✅ Use publicly available information and expert knowledge.

✅ Keep the analysis descriptive and contextual.
